Teeth In A Day

When you lose your teeth, it is important to have them replaced. For decades, missing teeth meant dentures. These removable prosthetic teeth have undergone many developments over the years, and are still in use today. Despite these developments, dentures still require extra care every night. Dentures rely on your gums for support. They can rub your gums, leading to painful denture sores, especially if they no longer fit correctly (which occurs naturally over time and requires you to be refitted for new dentures every few years). The development of dental implants has helped many tooth loss patients avoid traditional dentures and the issues associated with them. However, it can take several months to heal from dental implant surgery, and you typically are left wearing temporary teeth during this time. At Edelweiss Dental Implant Center, we can help you to avoid the lengthy wait for your permanent teeth with teeth in a day implants.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a relatively recent development for replacing missing teeth. They consist of three major components – the implant, the abutment, and the crown (or crowns). The implant itself is a small titanium rod that is surgically inserted into your jawbone. It relies on the fusion of your bone to the implant (osseointegration) for stability. The abutment is placed at the top of the implant and acts as a connector. The crown, or crowns, are made from ceramic and imitates the function and appearance of your natural teeth. Implants are designed to provide a permanent solution to tooth loss.

Getting Your Teeth the Same Day

Typically, after your dental implant surgery, temporary teeth are placed while you heal, restoring some of the function to your mouth. It can take up to several months to heal, depending on the number of implants placed. Then, after you have healed, the process for getting your permanent replacements begins. Abutments are placed on the implants and impressions are taken. The impressions are sent to a lab, where your teeth are designed and created. Once they are ready (a process that can take up to two weeks), they are finally screwed into place.

Teeth in a day are different. The purpose behind them is to give you your replacement teeth the very same day that you have your implant surgery. How is this possible? Rather than waiting until you heal from implant surgery to take impressions of your mouth, impressions are taken before surgery. This is possible thanks to 3-dimensional imaging software. With this software, we can design a restoration that will fit perfectly in your mouth. Once the restorations have been designed and created, they will be waiting for you the day you come in for your appointment. After the implants are set in your jaw, your permanent teeth are screwed into place.
